Design for All for Administrations | Planning the City for All | How to achieve being a City for All
It is evident that for politicians and technicians, presently need to make cities more accessible so that municipalities can adapt to the needs of its citizens and visitors, but it is known that the affected fields are numerous and the responsibility over these areas are very dispersed.
For this reason it is necessary to define a method of intervention that guarantees the implementation of those responsible and involved at municipal level and to ensure that the development of the tasks that have to carried out come to fruition the process of continued improvement of the city.
Until now, the method most used to adapt the characteristics of the city to the needs of its citizens has been the Accessibility Plan. Although this tool has been extremely useful to point out the lack of accessibility – it is a defined, computable and quantifiable problem. The Accessibility Plan does not contribute elements that ensure management systems to adapt the city
In other words, although defining the priorities of intervention and cost evaluation, it does not define the strategies that must be developed to guarantee that the process be carried out to maximum quality and with the minimum of resources, nor does in consider management.
For this, the tool we propose, from the Design for All Foundation, to plan and execute the municipal intervention is the City Plan for All that, if it includes all the aspects of the Accessibility Plan, widens the action field and defines systems of management.
