Design for All Foundation 2010 Awards
Last February 26th 2010, were handed the Design for All Foundation Awards, created to acknowledge administrations, companies and entities that are committed to the 'Design for All' and implement or promote it, obtaining specific benefits for All.
These awards want to be an annual event to recognize the joint effort, internationally, of companies, organizations and administrations to achieve a world where environments, services and products respect and take into account human diversity, and where accessibility could be a normal feature in the lives of people, promoting their equal participation in society, improving their quality of life day by day.
In this first 2010 edition, that took place in the context of the Anual Dinner of the Foundation, the jury in charge of selecting the nominees and handing out the prizes was the Foundation’s board of trustees and the winners of the different categories were:
CATEGORY COMPANY
Winner:
Muñecas Llorens. For boosting a project, pioneer worldwide, aimed at designing dolls according to the principles of the 'Design for All', which resulted in the collection 'Dolls for All'. This collection has been conceived to reduce discrimination and increase the respect towards diversity of sensorial or movement abilities, consolidating the company in a new way of work and, as their slogan explains 'a new way of making dolls'.

CATEGORY ADMINISTRATION
Winners:
Ayuntamiento de Palma de Mallorca: For their commitment with the improvement of people’s quality of life, manifested with the 'Flag of Towns and Cities for All'. This is the third consecutive year that they receive this emblem of the Design for All Foundation, and in this period a very positive evolution of the integration of the values of the design for all at all administration levels has been highlighted. As an example, in 2009, the percentage of the annual investment budged addressed to improvement actions that take into account human diversity was of 12%, quite above the minimum required, 2%. The mayoress of Palma declared: 'It is a social responsibility to make available to all citizens every service in an accessible way as a pillar of the democratization of the city'.
Askersund City Council: For their work in the field of accessibility and design for all in which, departing from an initial diagnose, developed a detailed plan with specific actions that have led them to obtain the 'Flag of Towns and Cities for All' the last couple of years, via a global integration of the design for all perspective in all their projects and activities.

CATEGORY ENTITY
Winner:
Obra Social de Caixa Terrassa: For its commitment with the Design for All and Personal Autonomy, evident from years through their pioneering initiatives both in the accessibility of their web and the creation of the Centre 'Adapted Home' of the President Torres Falguera Foundation, created to respond to the needs of people with functional limitations. Specially, for its promotion as sponsor of the 'Portal of Information for Personal Autonomy', that aims at becoming a web of reference for personal autonomy in Catalonia.
